Fundación Celta has recently taken part in a meaningful action within the Mares Circulares programme, an initiative led by Coca-Cola Europacific Partners to promote circular economy practices in marine environments. As a result of this joint effort, a very special bench has been installed at the University of Vigo, manufactured using PET bottles previously collected during beach and seabed clean-up activities in which volunteers —including young people connected to our Foundation— participated.
The bench was designed and produced by Plàstic Preciós, which transformed marine plastic waste into durable, functional furniture. This achievement brings the circular economy to life: plastic that once polluted the environment now becomes a visible symbol of collective commitment.
For Fundación Celta, this collaboration goes beyond environmental impact. Our mission focuses on promoting values among young people through sport and solidarity, and participating in Mares Circulares is a natural consequence of that educational and social purpose. It is not one of our own projects nor an exclusively environmental initiative, but a valuable extension of our work: helping young people grow into responsible individuals committed to their community.
This action also strengthens core values encouraged within the Celta community: teamwork, responsibility, self-improvement and active social involvement. Seeing that recovered PET transformed into a bench on a university campus is a tangible reminder that every action matters —and every volunteer makes a difference.
With this initiative, Fundación Celta reaffirms its commitment to youth development, to the Galician community and to the preservation of our environment. This bench is not just a place to rest: it stands as a testament to solidarity, recycling and shared progress.
